Director of Social Services and LifeMAP Coach

Director of Social Services and LifeMAP Coach at OurTism. Raul Munoz was born and raised in Los Angeles and is Autistic. He also possesses a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, a feat that currently would be considered impossible to many in society. His concentration is in macro practice, which entails making systemic change through policy advocacy and programming.

Growing up, he has experienced many obstacles, from disempowerment to social isolation. Even though he got his Autism diagnosis and knew about it at an early age, he still didn’t really know what Autism meant for a very long time. Due to this, he struggled with a lot of self-doubt, struggled with making meaningful connections, and had trouble understanding who he really was.

Fortunately, with the support of his family, his friends, with pursuing professional roles working with neurodiverse populations for 8+ years, and his desire to grow, he has eventually learned to make connections that are right for him while embracing and loving his whole self.

Now as a public speaker, Los Angeles Neurodiversity (LAND) Meetup group Organizer, a Board Member for the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC), and an emerging Director of Social Programs and LifeMap Coach at OurTism, his goal is to help change historically disempowering narratives about the Autistic and neurodiverse populations through advocacy and programming so that they can be less excluded and more accepted within their immediate environments, as well as reach their full potential.
